"The field of lipids, like other branches of biochemistry, has expanded rapidly in the last ten years. This volume of "Methods in Enzymology" deals with the preparation of many new enzymes of lipid metabolism and with the analytical techniques now in use in many leading laboratories. Each section is introduced by a list entitled "Previously Published Articles from Methods in Enzymology." When revision was not warranted, earlier articles were not revised or reprinted in this volume. When the volume contains a new or revised method, it may, nevertheless, be useful for the reader to be aware of the older, previously published method. A "Glossary of Enzyme Preparations" can be found preceding the Author Index. It includes preparations of enzymes and enzyme systems described in this volume, plus some entries for enzymes used in assays, where these were considered appropriate. The enzymes are listed in ascending order of their Enzyme Commission number, with a few exceptions which are listed at the end." | |||
