For electromagnetic waves, the energy and frequency of a particular wave are related according to the equation:
E=hv
where E is the energy of the wave, v is the frequency of the wave, and h is a constant, called planks constant.
So energy and frequency for electromagnetic waves can be used interchangeably, depending on technical issues such as how they are measured.
